Welcome to RACKWiki!
The Risk-Aware Consensual Kink Wiki (RACKWiki) is an educational resource for kinksters, by kinksters. We make information freely available so that people can make informed decisions to play safer.
Our mission
This project was created to help address the recurring problem of injuries or deaths involving high-risk kinks. Kinks can be complicated topics involving medicine, chemistry, engineering, and other fields. Knowledge about them can be difficult to access if people do not have access to resources. Educating others about potentially life-saving information is challenging to do at scale. By working together to collect, research, and write about kinks, everyone can be safer.
Harm-reduction, not abstinence
We believe that abstinence-only education in kink costs lives. Many resources and organizations both outside and within the kink community avoid discussing these topics at all, or take an abstinence-only position out of fear of enabling them. This approach is ineffective in preventing sexual activity or drug use. We accept that some people have a near-irresistible desire to practice kinks no matter how dangerous they may be. The risks of kinks must be openly discussed to allow people to be fully informed to give consent. We take a harm-reduction approach to educate without endorsing or encouraging high-risk behavior.
Research
We seek to broaden our understanding of under-researched kinks. The lack of study leads to speculation that may not be effective. With the kink community's large pool of experience and expertise, we pursue projects that can improve our knowledge.
Learn from past incidents
Like other high-risk activities like flying and climbing, we believe that the kink community has a responsibility to learn from past incidents. We are developing a process to collect, analyze, and publish incident reports to advance the community's ability to play safer.
