Safer sex refers to the practice of taking measures to reduce risks of transmitting or acquiring sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis. Safer sex is commonly referred to as safe sex, which fails to acknowledge that all sexual activity carries risks.
